Passing On

Steve was born April 3, 1940 in Grace, ID and passed away on August 16, 2011 at his home in Magnolia Texas. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Peggy Hawker, his brother Kyle (Valerie) Hawker, and his sister Sandee (Jim) Wilson, his sons Martin (Jill) Hawker, Cory Hawker, and Rick (Terry) York, his daughters Wendy (Nick) Hinck and Stephanie (Gunner) Jordan, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Steve was welcomed to this world by his parents Marion and Glenys Hawker in Grace and the family lived in Soda Springs, ID where Steve spent his younger years before joining the Air Force. Steve worked as a Personnel Agent in Soda Springs during the 60’s providing workers for Ref Chem Construction, Monsanto, and other industries in the area.

Steve relocated to Pocatello, ID in the early 70’s and began his long time career in the car sales industry. Steve was an avid outdoorsman. He was a competitive snow machine racer with the Sno-Drifters club and he loved to hunt deer, elk, antelope or anything with four legs or wings with his Dad. Some of his favorite fishing spots are just outside of Soda Springs like Diamond Creek and Tin Cup where he could be found with his family most weekends during the summer months. Steve and Peggy moved to Houston, TX in 1983. Steve found his second career in the mortgage banking business. He retired in 2003 when he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Golf... He loved relaxing at home in front of the TV with the Western Channel always playing.

Stephen had great memories of Soda Springs and the history of that area and to listen to him share these memories was a treat. He was a friend to so many in his life and will be missed by all.

Condolences and comments/experiences are welcomed and can be posted on his Facebook page or on

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 281 E Hooper Avenue, Soda Springs, ID.

THIS WAS FUN!!!! Steve was so sad he couldn't be with Bob Shelton, Jim and me

to watch this BSU game so I JUST HAD TO crop a picture I had of him and blow it up and print it.

There Steve is in his BSU shirt watching the game with Bobby... I called him and told him I'd

e-mailed him something special when we got home. He was so tickled!!!
Steve went fishing and asked our grandson, Caleb, if he'd like to help him clean the fish,
Caleb Just loved it.

Steve and I put the cabinet together behind us. It was really fun, reading directions
and spending quality time together- as we did so often.

"I LOVE YOU STEPHEN HAWKER"

I always said that on the phone or at the end of an e-mail, and he would say, "I love you too sis!"
